With the introduction of Veeam Backup & Replication™ v11, CDP can capture I/O in flight, theoretically allowing for rollback to any point in time. Also, they complement short-term recovery really well when designed and used properly. They are not considered as backup, but fit perfectly ‘in between’. A great way to improve that, is of course by levering storage snapshots. Today, companies are seeking to improve their RPO strategy by making as many backups as needed. These APIs allow third-party providers to develop functionality based on taking I/O in its path between compute and the virtual disk storage.
